PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, BMP; up to 64 million source pixels. Animated images use a still frame.

An uploaded raster replaces the characters. It is centered and fitted without distortion. Clear the image to return to text.

How to use the Favicon Generator

  1. 01

Enter one or two characters, or upload a PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, or BMP image. A selected image replaces the characters.

  2. 02

Choose a background shape and colors. For uploaded logos, adjust padding to keep important details away from the edge.

  3. 03

Review the 16, 32, and 48 pixel previews. Download a single PNG, the multi-frame ICO, or the ZIP with PNGs and installation snippets.

Examples

Lettermark for a personal site

Use a single high-contrast initial on a rounded square. Inspect the 16 pixel preview: a simple letter usually survives this reduction better than a detailed two-letter mark.

Transparent logo with breathing room

Upload a square PNG logo, choose a solid brand background, and set padding to 12%. The image keeps its proportions and is centered inside the shape.

What is in the ZIP?

The package contains PNGs at 16, 32, 48, 180, 192, and 512 pixels, a favicon.ico with 16/32/48 pixel frames, and a plain text HTML snippet. The ICO uses 32-bit bitmap frames with alpha and transparency masks. The 192 and 512 pixel PNGs are available for a web manifest that you create separately.

Install and check your icon

Place the exported files at the paths used in the snippet, or edit those paths to match your site. Add the link tags to your document head. Browsers can cache site icons aggressively, so check a fresh browser session after publishing. Text uses your device’s system font; export on the device whose preview you approved.

What to know

  • Text appearance depends on the system font and available glyphs.
  • Uploaded logos are fitted and may be enlarged; automatic artwork simplification is not provided.

Common questions

Is this an actual ICO file?

Yes. It has an icon directory and three embedded 32-bit bitmap frames. It is not a PNG renamed with an .ico extension.

Can I upload SVG?

This generator accepts local raster images. To use an SVG logo, first convert it with the SVG to PNG tool and then upload the PNG.

Does the ZIP include a complete PWA manifest?

No. It includes icon images and basic HTML snippets. App names, start URLs, display modes, and manifest integration depend on your website.
