How to use the Fraction Worksheet Generator

  1. 01

Choose an operation and maximum denominator.

  2. 02

Set the count, optional common-denominator preference, and repeatable seed.

Preview question and answer pages, then export the PDF with or without keys.

Examples

Adding halves, thirds, and quarters

Set the maximum denominator to 4, choose addition, and request 12 questions. Leave common denominators off to include unlike pairs.

Compare common-denominator subtraction

Choose subtraction with a denominator maximum of 8 and turn on matching denominators. All generated answers are nonnegative and reduced.

Question fractions and reduced answers

Questions may contain equivalent forms such as 2/4. Answers are always reduced using the greatest common divisor. Whole-number answers omit the denominator; improper fractions remain improper rather than becoming mixed numbers.

Distinct mathematical pairs

Equivalent representations of the same operand pair are deduplicated. Addition and multiplication also omit reversed pairs. Subtraction is nonnegative, and division never uses a zero fraction because all generated numerators are positive.

What to know

  • Denominators range from 2 up to a selected maximum of 3–12. Numerators are positive and smaller than their denominator.
  • Supports up to 48 questions; small denominator pools may allow fewer.

Common questions

Can I practice unlike denominators?

Yes. Leave the matching-denominator option off. This permits both like and unlike pairs; it does not force every pair to be different.

Are the answer keys simplified?

Yes. Every answer is reduced, denominators are positive, and exact whole numbers are displayed without /1.

Can the answer be larger than one?

Yes. Addition and division can produce improper fractions. They remain reduced fractions so students can convert to mixed numbers separately.
